It sounds fair to me. Actually it's a fine deal for the ISP involved since
they get the publicity AND they get to use the $1000 for their first 10
(or 5, etc.) domain registrations. Melbourne IT don't want to deal with
the customer directly; both parties win.

Remember they're establishing an account for the ISP; the $1000 is the ISP's
initial balance and the advantage to the customer who goes through a PISP is
that the ISP has already paid Melbourne IT, which reduces delays.

$1000 covers 10 domains at most; if an ISP does 10 or more domains a
month they're unlikely to complain. Anyway, how much will it cost you to
keep those vanity domains past the end of this year?

Agree. With a potential megabuck coming into Melbourne IT in a
few months' time, you can afford to answer the phone at lunchtime.
