Please remember that people in the UK don't find .co.uk at all confusing.
In fact they view .com.au as confusing because they are used to two letter
2LD's

The point is that there are no absolute's here. There is no one right way.
The way forward is to decide on and impolement a policy that is
representative, accountable, manageable and agreed upon by as broad a
section of 'stakeholders' as we can manage.
