This doesnt seem to have made it on to the list (or else maybe there is a
time lag). Please disregard this if you have seen it but you can appreciate
the importance of ensuring it is posted to avoid further confusion.

Correction.

The previous comment posted is the first to draw my attention to a glaring
error in the text. The person I was referring to is Greg Crew not Greg
Sword. The subsequent text refers to "Staley and Crew" which means Tony
Staley and Greg Crew.

So, to first clarify:

1. In paragraph 4, please delete the name "Sword" and insert the name
"Crew".

>> And
>> that
>> the Board two months ago (September 2000) duly chose to appoint Tony
>> Staley
>> and Greg Sword.

2. Further references in the text to "Crew" refer to Greg Crew.

3. As far as I know Mr Greg Sword is a prominent union leader who has
nothing to do with auDA or its Board of Directors. I apologise for my
accidental lapse in the wrong Greg area. I apologise for my unacceptable
proof-reading of this text. I shall forward this apology to Mr Sword and
ensure that all published texts are corrected, together with a notice
explaining the change, within the hour. Likewise, I shall notifiy Mr Staley
and Mr Crew that as far as I know, there is no association with Mr Sword and
themselves. And a similar apology and notice must go to the auDA Board, each
individual director and the auDA staff and members. Any other suggestions
here as to who else should receive and apology/notice will be acted on.

4. If there are any other glaring errors of this kind, I would appreciate
swift notice so that they may be as swiftly corrected. I hope and think that
this was the only "accidental" error (although it is more than a "mere"
typo, I readily concede that).

5. The only explanation I can proffer for the error (apart from the failure
to pick it up on proofreading) is that I was considering drafting a letter
to the union movement about the ICANN rejection of dot union and the legal
possibilities for dot union dot au and other webaddressing issues (such as
ensuring the web is fair for late-connecters as well as those already here).
I wont even bother with the under-resourced-and-very-busy excuse, because
that is the same for many of us here.

6. Needless to say the list posting alerting me to the typo (and all other
list postings not my own) will not be reproduced or published outside the
list.

7. I give express permission to reproduce or quote this message outside this
361-member forum for the purposes of ensuring any residual misunderstanding
of the Greg CREW not Greg Sword error of mine.

8. Looks like I shouldnt post to this list again for a period of time to be
set by Members (expulsion is an option too, I'd have to say). The option of
having any future postings moderated by some members-nominated person is
probably not workable on this list where there is a real onus on posters to
not make mistakes--especially dumb ones like the above.

9. My apologies to all and I am sorry if any stress or confusion was caused
by this error.

Yours sincerely,

Len Lindon
