If an org.au application takes more than a few weeks, it usually
means that the application is incomplete in some way, so that Robert
Elz cannot tell whether to accept it or reject it based on the details
supplied.

I think the most common reason for this is not putting evidence of
incorporation (such as a registration number), or a clear explanation
which shows that it is a genuine (legally recognised) organisation
and explains why it lacks a registration number.

Another one is sub-organisations that try to apply for a separate
domain name from their parent organisation. Unless the sub-org is
an legal organisation, it should register under the parent's domain
(eg: melbourne.catholic.org.au is a good domain name).

Spending an extra 10-15 minutes reading the org.au instructions and
making sure you have precisely filled in everything can save you
weeks or months of waiting.
