Silly clarifying question: do you mean whatever.2ld.au, or whatever.au, as I
think you mean?

As for the latter over the former, it'd allow more names to be taken up...

Just a simplistic view. [Bias: I've no idea, but I'm a former school domain
admin and now a journalist trainee...]
