Domain name "cybertraps" face crackdown 
The US Federal Trade Commission plans to shut down schemes that trap
careless internet browsers in a barrage of unsolicited web
advertising. 

The scam involves registering internet URLs that are close
misspellings of popular online destinations. When a web user
accidentally types in the wrong address, they are forwarded to a page
that uses embedded code to automatically pop up advertising boxes and
produce even more pages when the surfer tries to leave.

US chases domain name schemer
US legal authorities are appealing for help in tracking down John
Zuccarini who they say is making more than a million dollars a year
from a collection of mis-spelled domain names. 

Mr Zuccarini is accused of using misnamed domain names to divert
browsers to sites that bombard web surfers with pop-up adverts for
gambling and porn.

RU-Center has begun domain registration in the USSR zone
On 1 October 2001, the RU-Center, the company that assigns domain
registrations for RosNIIROS, announced that it would provide a domain
name registration service in the '.su' domain zone.

Active ISP leads the market for full .info registration capaility
