Domain Idea Sparks Spat 
Registrars are trashing VeriSign's proposal to create a pricey
waiting list for registered domains, calling it too expensive and
anti-competitive. A consortium of registrars summarized its concerns
in a letter submitted to VeriSign late in the day on Friday.

FREE SPEECH CENTER TO PROVIDE FREE SUCKS SITES
Concerned with recent ICANN UDRP cases that transfer online protest
sites to targeted companies, the Free Speech Center has begun
offering free "sucks" sites. The Center has registered a wide range
of domains such as comsucks.net so that protesters can use domains
such as company.comsucks.net.

ICANN ANNOUNCES PLANS FOR GHANA MARCH MEETING
ICANN has released further details on its next round of meetings, set
for March 10 - 14th in Accra, Ghana. The meeting will feature a
special session on "Higher-Layer Naming Systems" Keywords and Other
Non-DNS Identifiers" that it appears will come as part of the public
forum, possibly curtailing the amount of time available to the public
to pose questions to ICANN.
