Vlady,

The best authority on what domain names are is NetRegistry
http://au.com/help.html

On this page you will get an excellent explanation of what
an Australian .com is (yup you guessed it, au.com)

Only Larry himself could explain it this well:

Is .au.com a subdomain of .com?

au.com and com.au domains are both technically speaking
subdomains of dot com and dot au, respectively. However,
they are both domain endings which are fully transferable
and can be hosted anywhere in the world. The registrar of
au.com domains is au.com and can be located at www.au.com.

Which begs the question, why is everyone fighting over
.com.au domains?

I just love it when Larry gets technical, speaking that is.

Harry

Hello all,

Sorry for the stupid question but it seems to be the right place to ask.

How do you go about registering a .com domain name in australia and how does
renewal work ?

Thank you

Vlady
