SPEECH, PRIVACY, & CONSUMER GROUPS CALL FOR ICANN REBID (from BNA

Following the General Assembly of the DNSO's vote to
recommend that the Department of Commerce re-bid its current
agreement with ICANN, a large coalition of advocacy groups,
including the ACLU, EFF, EPIC, Media Access Project, and the
Consumers Union, have written to the NTIA to also request
that the DOC re-bid ICANN.  The letter argues that ICANN has
not provided sufficient transparency and has stifled free
speech by slowly allocating new generic TLDs.  Letter at
