I forgot to mention that Dick Alston is famous in the Vic Division of the Liberal Party for 
having nominated himself and run in no less than 50 (yes five-oh) pre-selection 
contests before finally wearing them down and getting on the Senate ticket.

Is this relevant to this list? Yes well it shows how well he was/is regarded by his nearest 
and dearest.

This is not to say that he is stupid. He still finds time from his parly and ministerial 
duties to have gained further academic qualifications in the last coupla years on top of 
his long standing legal ones. It's just that he has no concept of what technology is all 
about and is entirely run by his departmental madarins which, prima facie, has even 
less idea.

NB "Yes Minister" wasn't actually a joke.
