My apologies the expiry date is the original 2 yearly cycle. The action is automated by the registry. It is not something in the control of the registrar. Probably worth contacting your registrar to investigate. Sounds more like the expiry date was wrong in some way. (ie you may have had more time on the licence than you thought).
