Hi Vic, I agree with your comment about spam, but your average Joe is now completey fed up with anything that could remotely be considered spam. This tends to broaden the bounds of what is considered spam. For example, with the registrars being reuired to keep the contact details upto date, tacking on ads for other services might or might not be considered spam. Personally I take the view that if they want to be credible, just send an email with what they are required to send and have an opt in check box on the registration page "keep me informed about hot offers from our company". Auda should change policy, emails from registrars should only contain information required, no ads. Overall our problem is that our clients aren't that 'Internet Literate', the one piece of advice we have given them is that they should ignore any mail they receive about their domain names until they check with us first. I dont think I need to go into detail as why we suggest this. At the end of the day we make little or nothing out of domain names, and hope that we dont get too many calls from customers about them (we dont charge for that kind of support). I am subrscribed to this list to ensure that any relevant information is passed onto them. I disagree that your average business person needs to be "educated" in this field, as suggested in a post here a while ago, better that everyone concentrates on their "core" business.
