WebEx Communications, best known for its web

Fake tsunami appeal website terminated
A bogus website masquerading as that of the Disasters
Emergency Committee has been taken down. The
enforcement action follows warnings yesterday (3
February) that the site, decuk.org, which claimed to
be collecting funds to help victims of the Indian
Ocean tsunami disaster was not to be trusted.

Denial of Domain Name Transfer: BAA Loses Request for
Gatwick.Com (reg req'd)
On 11 November 2004 the WIPO Arbitration and Mediation
Center produced its decision on BAA plc v. Bob Larkin
(case D2004-0555). BAA claimed that gatwick.com was
confusingly similar to two registered trade marks (BAA
GATWICK and BAA LONDON GATWICK), and identical to the
common law mark established as a consequence of the
activities taking place at Gatwick airport.

.net By Teaming With Tucows (news release)
Internet domain registry DENIC eG, of Germany, today
announced that it has joined with Canadian-based
Internet services firm Tucows Inc. to ensure 24/7
support services for the .net registry, should DENIC
be awarded the .net registry business by ICANN at the
end of March. DENIC has selected Tucows as its
exclusive provider of complementary .net registrar
support services for the North American market.
According to the Letter of Intent signed by both
companies, Tucows will operate an English-language
support facility in Toronto, while DENIC will continue
to manage its English/German-language support center
in Frankfurt. Together, the two companies will provide
round-the-clock support for .net registrars. Last
month, DENIC submitted its proposal to ICANN to take
over administration of the important .net Top Level
Domain (TLD), which is currently up for competitive
bid.
