Resolving the Release of Two-Character ASCII Labels with Comments by Cyrus
Namazi

We recently passed the half-year mark since ICANN launched its Authorization
Process for the Release of Two-Character ASCII Labels. The process, which
was originally published in December 2014, explains that requested,
non-objected to letter/letter two-character ASCII labels will be released
after a 60-day comment period. Since that time, over 249,000 letter/letter
two-character domains have been authorized across approximately 560 new
gTLDs, and the numbers are growing weekly.

ICANN chairman loses mind over his domain-name privacy shakeup

The chairman of ICANN has been recorded ranting about domain-name privacy:
the DNS overlord wants owners of "commercial" websites to reveal their
personal details in the WHOIS database.

ICANN Should Curb Anonymous Domain Name Abuses by Daniel Castro

E-commerce has revolutionized how businesses sell to consumers -- including
those involved in illicit activities, such as websites peddling illegal
narcotics, pirated movies and music, or counterfeit handbags. For example,
96 percent of Internet pharmacies do not comply with U.S. laws, and as they
ship pills tainted with paint thinner, arsenic, and rat poison, they put the
health and safety of consumers at risk. Why don't law enforcement officials
do more to combat this problem? Partly because of the difficulty of
identifying who is actually operating the illegal pharmacies. It is time to
fix this, while allowing anonymity for those who deserve it.

Google, ABC.xyz, and the growing awareness of new domain names

When new TLDs started rolling out over a year ago, basically no one outside
of the insular domain name business had heard of them. They started with
zero awareness. The good thing about that is there?s only one way to go: Up.

DNS Deregulation (Part 1 of 3) by Alexa Raad

The domain name system (DNS) market is going through significant change.
Barriers to entry have dropped, as hundreds of new gTLDs are being
introduced. Substantial new sources of capital have invested in the market.
While at the same time, overall domain name sales volume has slowed. Recent
M&A activities suggest market consolidation focused on building scale.
