ICANN plays an important role in maintaining the safety, security, reliability, and openness of the Internet, and it must remain accountable and transparent. While the Cross Community Working Group on Enhancing ICANN Accountability proposal is a blueprint for an accountable institution, it remains unclear whether the result will be sound or whether the ICANN community will act responsibly and in a timely manner to hold ICANN accountable.
