On April 12, I wrote to the DNS list:

After some thought and discussions with other parties, I'd like to change
my comments above, and apologise if they have caused any misunderstandings.

Instead of the previous message, please substitute:
``
Robert Elz never exclusively delegated the management of the com.au space
to Melbourne IT. In 1996 he asked Melbourne IT to do administration work
for com.au on a non-exclusive basis.

Robert retained oversight of com.au himself until November 1999 when he
delegated the overall management of com.au to auDA (but subject to the
requirement that auDA must honour his previous agreement with Melbourne IT
which basically allows Melbourne IT to continue doing administrative work
for com.au non-exclusively for 5 years, until October 2001).
''

If this doesn't clear things up, you can read the text of Robert Elz's
November 1999 letter to auDA for yourself at http://www.auda.org.au/.
