 Injunction Issued Against Verio for Using Register.com's Database (Law.com)

Colorado Web hosting company, Verio Inc., has been ordered to stop accessing
the customer database of major Internet domain-registration service,
Register.com, and using that information for direct marketing and
telemarketing purposes. Register.com had sued Verio Inc. last August for
breach of contract and for violations of the Lanham Act and the Computer
Fraud and Abuse Act.

announced on Monday it is ready to expand into China amid ongoing disputes

A federal court granted Register.com's motion for a preliminary injunction
against hosting company Verio. The order enjoins Verio, a subsidiary of NTT
Communications, from accessing Register.com's Whois database to target
customers with unsolicited commercial e-mail. Verio also must not engage in
conduct that misleads Register.com's customers into believing that
Register.com is affiliated with Colorado-based Verio or its services,
according to the order entered in U.S. District Court for the Southern
District of New York.

Military Committee of China's Communist Party, is threatening legal action
against whoever is using the newspaper's Chinese title as an Internet domain
