IS THIS THE END OF THE VERISIGN / ICANN DEAL?
According to an Industry Standard article, the Commerce
Department's review of the VeriSign / ICANN agreement that
extends the firm's control of the dot-com domain has the
company thinking twice about completing the deal. The two
sides have met the past few days to try and re-write the
controversial agreement, but have failed to reach a deal
that would satisfy the Commerce Department. A major concern
is apparently a letter from the Justice Department that
warns of potential competitive harms to the registration of
domain names.

GET READY FOR DOT-BIZ AND DOT-INFO
ICANN has officially accredited the .biz and .info domain
suffixes. NeuLevel, which controls the rights to operate
.biz, and Affilias, LLC, which is in charge of .info, will
be able to sell Internet addresses using the new suffixes
but only once the US Commerce Department adds the new
suffixes to the "A" root server.
