Hello Ron,

An appropriate posting - for the record, I am a Local Government network
administrator, and as as such neither my employer nor myself are involved in
selling domains - nor do we have any particular interest in the commercial
areas of .au administration other than compliance with the legislative
framework. My particular interests are in the ethical aspects of .au
administration - competitive equity, codes of conduct (unfortunately
necessary whenever a group comprising of conflicting commercial interests
are tasked with administering a national resource), privacy and
confidentiality, and as someone who formerly ran an ISP, ultimately in
seeing the .au domain meet the needs of Australian consumers - everything
else is secondary (at least to me).

Funnily enough I never thought there might be a need to add a company like
Melbourne IT to our list of banned (for spamming) mail servers - I just hope
this is not a trend or a regular occurance. Perhaps somehow I did opt-in for
their advertising at sometime in the distant past and have totally forgotton
about it... (giving the benefit of the doubt while I search my records to
double-check - though in looking through their site I cannot find an opt-in
section for the type of mail recently received).

To your comment on passions... My particular passion against spam simply
stems from my role as a system administrator tasked with reducing our daily
load of junk mail - it all costs money to receive, and it's an overhead we
can do without.

Rgds, Don
