Net's servers under scrutiny

on the internet's ruling body to give guarantees about the safe
running of these crucial servers.

Why and How to Rent a Domain Name
Renting a domain name from someone who's already registered it
sometimes can be an attractive (or the only) option available if you
want to use it. Doing so can be cost-effective, particularly if your
need is only temporary or if you want to gain the benefits associated
with a pre-existing domain name. This article explains how renting a
domain name works and what should be included a contract for a domain
name rental.

From BNA Internet Law News...
THANKS BUT NO THANKS TO THIS ICANN UDRP DECISION
A WIPO panelist has ordered the transfer of the domain
merci.com to a German company that uses the term as a
trading name. The domain had been held by a Turkish owner
since 1996. Although the case went undefended, the panelist
surprisingly never even acknowledges that the name simply
means thank you in French.

AND DON'T CRY ME A RIVER OVER THIS ONE
In a split decision, another WIPO panel has ordered the
transfer of amazoncar.com to bookseller Amazon.com. The
site was being used by a Korean man to sell automobiles and
car parts. The fact that the amazon is a river is
apparently no longer relevant -- in the eyes of the majority
of the panel, everyone in the 70 countries where Amazon.com
has registered a trademark must now surrender most any use
of the word in a domain to the online bookseller.
