AUDA can't cancel a contract that they're not a party to.

Melbourne IT (INWW) can but as they are currently in a monopoly position
I presume that they've been advised that to do so would be in breach of
the competition provisions of the Trade Practices Act.

When the new registry goes live all this will become irrelevant as auDA
will be a party to the registrar accreditation agreements and Melbourne
IT will cease to hold a monopoly position in the market thereby increasing
their freedom of action significantly.
