Internet Registry Pty Ltd (trading as NetRegister) 

consents to Federal Court Orders


Melbourne, 26 September 2002 - Internet Registry Pty Ltd and its
Director Paul Chesley Rafferty today gave undertakings to the Federal
Court in the form of the interlocutory injunctions sought by auDA. 


These undertakings cover matters arising from the 'NetRegister' mail out
(sent to domain name registrants two weeks ago) and include the
preservation of all records until the determination of the final


As is standard practice, the Court has also made certain directions
orders including that, prior to a full hearing, the matter be referred
to mediation. Unless the mediation or other negotiations are successful
auDA will be seeking, as final relief:


*       declarations that the 'Net Register' mail out is misleading or
deceptive in certain respects; 


*       declarations that Internet Registry has engaged in conduct which
is misleading

or deceptive in breach of the Trade Practices Act and, in breach of the

has falsely represented the need for services;


*       declarations that Paul Chesley Rafferty was knowingly concerned
in the breaches of

the Trade Practices Act by Internet Registry; and


*       an order directing Internet Registry to send a corrective mail
out and

file an Affidavit confirming that it has done so.


The next step in the proceedings is a directions hearing set down for 8
November 2002. 


Internet Registry Pty Ltd and NetRegister have no connection whatsoever
with auDA accredited registrar NetRegistry Pty Ltd.
