Is this possible?

Company X's .com.au domain is up for renewal. Solutions provider Y 
offers to renew  and goes and does so through Melbourne IT. Solutions 
provider A (who does web design for X) offers X to renew at a lower 
cost via Enetica. X likes lower cost and asks for it to be done. 
Domain transferred to Enetica and renewed.

Issues

* Solutions Provider Y is billed by Melbourne IT they think they have 
renewed it.
* Enetica on the other hand thinks they have renewed / transfered the 
domain and state that if a domain is renewed it is held for 90 days.

Is this double registration technically possible?

Also Company X has stated that they were still thinking about 
renewing through the first Solutions provider Y and had not actually 
intended to use them (as they were quite expensive).
