I recently transferred a domain to enetica within 2 weeks of expiry but the renewal date changed to the date of transfer.. so I lost about 9 days ... no big deal but not right just the same. I never chased it up as I thought that was what happens... -Lew -----Original Message----- From: Bruce Tonkin [mailto:Bruce.Tonkin§melbourneit.com.au] Sent: Thursday, 13 February 2003 8:39 AM To: dns§lists.auda.org.au Cc: francis§intaserve.com Subject: RE: [DNS] Transfer / Renewal Hello Sandra, > > However, you are saying a .au domain can be transferred to a > different > Registrar any time within the last 3 months before expiry, > and your 2 yr > renewal expiry date stands. That is correct. A domain name can only be renewed within 90 days of the expiry date. A domain name supplier may not send a renewal notice prior to that period. This was introduced to stop deceptive marketing. A transfer within this period has the same effect as a renewal. Outside of the renewal period, a domain name may be transferred but is seldom necessary.
