I dont know if one should post DNS queries on this list, but I'm hoping a guru can help me resolve the following problem, We have just moved premises, and had setup a new nameserver ns2.seol.net.au (203.220.28.7) at the new site several months ago. I have just turned off ns1.seol.net.au (203.23.53.7) at the old site.

The idea was to move the turned off nameserver to the new site, and bring it up under a new ip. I had our registrar justnet make the following changes on thursday, these changes are showing on the whois for seol.net.au.

Name Server: ns1.seol.net.au
Name Server IP: 203.220.28.7
Name Server: ns2.seol.net.au
Name Server IP: 203.220.28.8

The problem:

Currently 2 of Telstra's nameservers (used by ADSL customers) are returning ns2 as our name server, but do not include an IP number. The only "valid" nameserver they can find is 203.23.53.7 which is now turned off. I do not no if the problem will persist after Telstra's servers update new info from the Ausregistry, as if it is just "dirt" in the record it will probably still be there.

I dont know if this makes sense to the reader, but it has caused us to be "offline" to Telstra customers for a week now, and no amount of calls to Telstra seem to be able to find who a probl like this would be forwarded to.


I use a site dnsreport.com to gather the following info

ns2. [NO GLUE; No A record]
ns2.seol.net.au. [203.220.28.7 (NO GLUE)]
ns1.seol.net.au. [203.23.53.7 (NO GLUE)]

NOTE: These records may be inaccurate, since the parent servers (dns1.telstra.net.) do not know the NS records for seol.net.au (or give a referral to other DNS servers)! This may cause other tests not to work properly, such as the 'Nameservers on separate class C' test.
