DENIC Announces New Management Team
What is effectively the world?s largest ccTLD has announced a new management structure. Well, OK, .tk is the ?largest? ccTLD, but they aren?t ?real? registrations. Given that newspapers given away at airports and fitness centres for example shouldn?t be and often aren?t counted in their circulation figures, registrations of most .tk domains are free and their domains under management (DUM) figure should take this into account. But as with newspapers given away, it?s a business model that works for them.

What?s the P&L for the Brand gTLD?
For many companies, the gTLDs have added significant line items to the budget. In the application phase there was the filing fee of $185,000 plus legal and consulting fees to get the project off the ground. As the asset moves from acquisition to management, there will be registry operator, registrar, data escrow, ICANN and other fees. And, in brand protection there will be an increase in fees to monitor, protect and utilize Sunrise periods across thousands of new TLDs.

Who Are the Major New gTLD Applicants and? (Part Five: Rightside Registry) by Jean Guillon
Rightside is a name you may only have heard of very recently. It is a relative newcomer in the new gTLD industry. It is important to note that there is a difference between "Rightside" and "Rightside Registry". One is the Trademark and also the name of this new group to which eNom (a Registrar), Namejet (a platform to buy/sell domain names and Premium domains) and Name.com (another Registrar) belong. As for "Rightside Registry", it is the new name of the platform to operate new gTLD applications.

Suspicion Falls on Russia as ?Snake? Cyberattacks Target Ukraine?s Government
Since the first major protests in Kiev that triggered the current crisis with Moscow, American intelligence agencies have been on high alert for cyberattacks aimed at the new government in Ukraine. They were a bit late: the attacks started long before President Viktor F. Yanukovych was forced from office, and as might be expected, no one can quite pinpoint who is behind them, although some suspicion is falling on Russia.

Italian fashion house Dolce & Gabbana has obtained the transfer of the domain name ?dolcegabbanafrance.net? under the UDRP. The domain name was pointing to a website based in China offering counterfeit Dolce & Gabbana products for sale. The decision shows that the UDRP is an effective tool to deal with domain names pointing to websites selling counterfeit goods where the domain name in question incorporates the name of the brand.
