Clash looms over org.au
Australians are likely to witness an unprecedented battle over domain
name rights, with Internet pioneer Robert Elz refusing to release the
.org.au and id.au second-level domains - even as the .au Domain
Authority (auDA) is taking tenders to run them.
Elz appears to have conceded the .au namespace itself - international
names body ICANN, the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and
Numbers, is about to make the final technical switch to auDA after
deciding in auDA's favor. But Elz says auDA does not have the right
to take org.au and id.au from him.

removed, although he conceded there was little he could to do prevent
the transfer going ahead.
