ICANN meeting: Safety first
Computer geeks and public-policy wonks arriving here to take part in
the annual meeting of the body that sets standards for the Internet's
addressing system will find that, like everything else, Sept. 11 has
profoundly changed the online world.

Legislator keeps eye on domain sales
Internet domain-name sellers need to keep better track of their
customers, a U.S. lawmaker said Monday, or Congress may be forced to

Clash looms over org.au
Australians are likely to witness an unprecedented battle over domain
name rights, with Internet pioneer Robert Elz refusing to release the

names body ICANN, the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and
Numbers, is about to make the final technical switch to auDA after
deciding in auDA's favor. But Elz says auDA does not have the right
to take org.au and id.au from him.
