Subject: [DNS] Domain registered through DNA shows status inactive

Hi All,

I am hoping you can give me some advice on the following:

I have a client that wants to host a domain he has paid for through Domain
Names Australia. He paid for the domain online by credit card back in early
June I believe.

The domain name is koshiki.net.au

A whois search shows the following:
Domain Name: koshiki.net.au
Last Modified: Never Updated
Registrar ID: R00020-AR
Registrar Name: Explorer
Status: INACTIVE

Registrant: AUSTRALIAN KOSHIKI ASSOCIATION
Registrant ID: ABN 80243045625

Registrant ROID: C1677057-AR
Registrant Contact Name: Glenn Stephenson
Registrant Email: g.stephenson§uws.edu.au

Tech ID: C1677057-AR
Tech Name: Glenn Stephenson
Tech Email: g.stephenson§uws.edu.au

Now thats interesting!!!! Registered through Explorer and status INACTIVE.
What on earth is that? I have tried to get DNA staff to ring me back to get
this sorted out but they never answer incoming calls and I am yet to receive
a return call after leaving a message on their answering machine.

Can anyone suggest the best approach to get this sorted. Should I even
bother trying to get it resolved? (I've read plenty of stories about DNA on
this list). I am inclined to get the client to request a refund and organise
a new domain name in the .asn.au or org.au address space (they are an
association). I notice that DNA does not offer asn.au or org.au names.

This little outfit is a non-profit association (not actually registered as a
not for profit though ... not sure why) and can ill afford to be ripped off
for the fee charged by DNA. I think they charged $237 for 2 years which
seems a bit excessive to me. Especially when there does not seem to be any
service to go with it.

Any ideas or comments welcomed.
